MyTRACS interns visit Central Library's Special Collections Department

Central Library's Special Collections Department contains many exciting and unique items. The MyTRACS interns got the opportunity to see, and yes even touch, some of them during our visit on May 31.

Subject Specialist, Jean Gosebrink,(that's Jean on the left in the picture) explained that Special Collections focuses on the history of books and printing, early literature by regional authors, and our community's heritage and culture.

Some of us loved seeing the hymnal printed on parchment. Others were interested at the drawings done by students as part of their examinations in the 1800s. Few of us had ever seen a cuneiform (clay tablet). But now we have. Jean showed us clay tablet by the Sumerians that dates to over 4000 years ago. (Read our comments on Our MyTalk discussion pages).
